Known for his integrity, deep industry expertise, and unwavering client-first philosophy, Scott’s career has been defined by innovation, measurable impact, and long-term partnerships.

Scott began his career in 1980 with Lincoln National Life, where he quickly distinguished himself as one of the top 50 agents in the nation, specializing in health insurance, life insurance, and non-qualified pension plans. His success led to a leadership role at Crown Life, where he was tasked with restructuring their San Diego employee benefits office. Under Scott’s direction, the office moved from last place to first in national sales rankings—a transformation that became a hallmark of his career.

In 1986, Scott co-founded California Corporate Benefits (CCB), where he served as Senior Vice President for 19 years. During his tenure, he helped grow CCB into one of the top ten independently owned employee benefits firms in San Diego County. In 2005, Scott launched WSP Corporate Benefits & Insurance Services, Inc., which quickly rose to become one of the top 20 firms in the region, a reflection of his leadership, vision, and ability to consistently deliver results.

Scott’s continued success is grounded in his personalized approach to consulting, expert-level knowledge of negotiation and benefit design, and his steadfast commitment to clients. He is highly sought after by leading carriers and has served on national advisory panels for organizations such as Assurant, Kaiser Permanente, and UnitedHealthcare. His perspective is frequently relied upon to shape industry trends and improve plan performance across a wide spectrum of employer groups.
In addition to his professional achievements, Scott has long been committed to community leadership and philanthropy. He served on the board of the California Utility Executive Management Association (CUEMA), representing over 70 water districts across the state, and is a former board member for Hospice of the North Coast. Scott founded and chaired their annual golf tournament, which raised over $460,000 for hospice services since its inception in 2001. He also served as Parks & Recreation Commissioner for the City of Carlsbad for 10 years, receiving a formal proclamation in 2003 for his contributions to community development projects.

Scott is a past President of the San Diego Employee Benefits Council and chaired charitable efforts benefiting Becky’s House and the Pro Kids Foundation, raising over $40,000. His legacy of civic involvement is a reflection of his belief that business success should be matched by social responsibility.

Scott studied Sociology at San Diego State University and UC San Diego, after competing as a collegiate swimmer and water polo player at Grossmont College. He remains actively involved in national sports consulting projects with Major League Baseball and the National Football League and continues to bring the same discipline and teamwork to his professional practice.

A resident of San Diego for over 50 years, Scott lives in Carlsbad, California, with his wife Deborah, his partner in life and business for over 40 years.
